We are looking for a passionate beer enthusiast with bar experience to help sell and pour beer! The ideal candidate will embody Smog City's core values of quality, community, and respect, love creating community around delicious hand crafted beverages, drive a positive work environment and ensure an inviting and engaging experience for all our customers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Be an ambassador of Smog City Brewing Co., understanding that you are the face of the company and must represent Smog City in everything you do and every interaction you have with customers. 

  • Uphold Smog City customer service standards, making our taprooms a welcoming place for everyone.

  • Greet and interact with guests in a polite and respectful manner.

  • Answer questions and educate guests about Smog City beer.

  • Follow all Taproom SOPs and employee handbook guidelines.

  • Maintain a safe and clean work environment.

  • Maintain an awareness of guests’ state of mind, and respond appropriately.

  • Check ID of any guests that appear under 35.

  • Bus and clean tables, bars and barrels.

  • Sweep and mop floors as needed.

  • Wash and restock glassware.

  • Check restrooms, clean and restock as needed.

  • Meal/Rest breaks when required.

  • Work morning, afternoon, night, and/or weekends as needed.

  • Participate in beer festivals and events as needed.

  • Work special Smog City events as needed.

Minimum Job Requirement:

  • 1 - 3 years of restaurant or bar experience in a customer facing role.

  • Good interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with individuals and groups at all organization levels.

  • Impeccable customer service skills, and a desire to interact with and host a wide range of individuals with varying levels of beer knowledge at our taprooms.

  • Cicerone Certified Beer Server, level 1, preferred.

  • Ability to multitask and prioritize responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.

  • Self-starter with the ability to keep busy during any down time by completing side work tasks, and/or any other tasks assigned by your manager/leads and taproom director.

  • Desire to learn about craft beer and quality standards.

  • Knowledge and passion for craft beer and the brewing process is preferred, with an emphasis on education and helping customers find their new favorite beer they didn’t know they liked.

  • General knowledge of draft system basics preferred. (How to change a keg, how to troubleshoot if a draft line is having pouring issues, etc.)

  • Knowledge of POS systems preferred.

  • Proof of completion of LEAD course in accordance with ABC regulation within 30 days of hire date.
